Cameia National Park is in Moxico province, east of Angola, and it is located at about 1,100 meters (3,500 feet) above sea level. Much of the park consists of seasonally inundated plains that form part of the Zambezi river basin, with the northern half of the park draining into the Chifumage River. The park is a sample of nature not occurring elsewhere in Angola.

Two lakes, including the largest lake in Angola – the Dilolo Lake, which is rich in aquatic birds lie outside the park boundaries.

The Cameia–Luacano road forms the northern boundary of the park with the Chifumage River forming the southern portion of the southeastern boundary and the Lumege and Luena rivers in the south-western boundary.

There are also extensive miombo woodlands, similar to those in the Zambezi basin - part of Okavango Project - of western Zambia. The area now known as Cameia National Park was established as a game reserve in 1938 and proclaimed a National Park in 1957, and it shares its name with the nearby municipality of Cameia.

Despite its tourism potential, Cameia Park still lacks some infrastructures to support tourism activities, but since 2010, local government and private business people have been making some investments to improve the park’s hospitality conditions in order to attract more domestic and international visitors.
