Nationals and foreign passengers departing from Angola are now allowed to carry out money in local currency and enter the country with cash in any foreign currency since February 2012.  Only customer officers and fiscal police officers on duty are allowed to control the exit and entry of currency at their respective customs stations.

National Currency

All travellers are allowed to enter or leave the country with up to KZ 50,000.00 (fifty thousand Kwanza).

Foreign currency - Entry

Resident travellers are allowed to enter the country with up to $15,000.00 (fifteen thousand US Dollars) or its equivalent in another currency.

Non-resident travellers, including nationals living abroad, may enter the country with up to $10,000.00 (ten thousand US Dollars) or its equivalent in another currency.

Any amount higher than stated above must be declared to Customs and a “Currency/Money Entry and Exit Declaration” must be filled.

Foreign currency – Exit

Resident travellers leaving the country are authorized to take with them up to $15,000.00 (Fifteen thousand US Dollars) or the equivalent in another foreign currency.

Resident travellers under the age of 18 are allowed to leave the country with up $5,000.00 (five thousand US Dollars) or the equivalent in any other foreign currency.

N.B:  Any amount exceeding the limit sit in the Notice 01/12 of 27 January, without due authorization from the Central Bank of Angola, in possession of nationals or foreigners will be seized under the terms of paragraph 2 of Article 20 and of Article 23 of the Foreign Exchange Law.
